Grannar/Neighbors

Projects: April 7th, 2008

Polish contemporary artists are coming to Sweden during the summer of 2008 to show their art in museums, cultural centers and art galleries. The art is to be shown in untraditional places as at sea, in the city and in virtual worlds. Hyper Island was approach to sort out their online appearance.

Role in the project.

- Project Manager in a group of five.
- Handle client contacts.
- Worked with the concept development.

The Brief

Produce a graphical profile for on and offline media
Produce a website that informs about the projects, and introduce the different artists.
Produce a exhibition catalog design concept.
Educate people in what contemporary art can mean.

Our solution

The project will show a big variation of expressions, contains and media. We wanted our deliverables to reflect the young artists and show people that contemporary art  is interesting by making it different, fresh and new. We delivered a dynamic web solution that takes inspiration from analog art catalogues while offering the possibility to publish both images and videos. The site expand over the visitors full browser window and puts the art in the center of attention while still being highly accessible and user friendly.

Visual commenting

To let the users say their opinion about the project in a smart way with out risking people expressing inappropriate opinions about single pieces and artists, we came up with a new concept for discussing. Instead of giving the users the possibility to express themselves through words, we gave them the possibility to express themselves visually through symbols. Itʼs up to the users themselves to decide what they symbolizes and stand for.

At the site visitors also can book their tickets to the vernissage, get information about previous and upcoming exhibitions and find travel instructions to the different venues.

The site will be launched in late April 2008.
